Review: The Heartbreaker of Echo Pass

The Heartbreaker of Echo Pass The Heartbreaker of Echo Pass by Maisey Yates
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Heartbreaker of Echo Pass by Maisey Yates fills a void I didn’t realize I had in my reading pile. Hunky mountain man meets mousy maiden. Ok well that isn’t exactly the synopsis of the book but let me explain.

Iris has basically been a housewife without ever being married, she stepped up to raise her siblings and cousins after their parents all perished in a freak accident many years ago. Now that everyone has grown and found their significant others, she is feeling a little lost. When a prime opportunity arises to finally jump out on her own, the only thing standing in her way is a hot hunk of mountain man determined to stay alone.

Griffin has moved himself away from everything and everyone he ever knew, and yes it was on purpose. Going days, sometimes weeks without speaking to another soul is exactly what he wants and needs. When a knock at his door brings him something he never realized he was missing, he fights it tooth and nail but how will he handle Iris and her ability to get into his head?

Like missing pieces finding their way together in a puzzle neither knew they were building, their “disfunction” makes life function all the better. Both characters are broken with grief, one thinking they have “dealt” with the grief, the other living every minute of every day consumed by it. “I think you’re mad at the wrong deadwoman” just about sums it up.

First impressions are not always the best judgement and both Iris and Griffin quickly decide they are way off on their first moment determinations. They forge an unusual relationship as she struggles to build her business while keeping up her end of their barter deal. Meanwhile Griffin, who once loved to be alone, finds himself searching for moments to interact with Iris. This story arc moves fast at times, maybe too fast for some, but when destiny gets involved there is no timeline.

A bonus story is included in the back of the paperback, Solid Gold Cowboy featuring Laz and Jordan.

Review: The Summer of No Attachments

The Summer of No Attachments The Summer of No Attachments by Lori Foster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Summer of No Attachments is the latest release by Lori Foster. A wonderful summer read that has all the feels, like good friends sitting on the beach by the water during the hottest days of summer.
Ivey is in a slump, well not a work slump she could work twenty-four seven and still never get caught up. Her personal life however is another story. Stuck in a dead-end relationship she decides she needs to throw caution to the wind and make this a summer of no attachments. Quickly entering the picture is Corbin and his son Justin.
Corbin did not even know he has a son, much less that his son was 10 years old, until his ex-girlfriend showed up at his door and promptly walked away without Justin. Trying to figure out this new life routine is trying for them both, but Corbin is determined to give Justin the very best life he can. It is not easy, but he tries chipping away at the wall Justin has placed around his heart to just let him in a little bit.
Ivey and Corbin fall very quickly into a comfortable place in their budding relationship. The feeling that they have known each other for their whole lives instead of just a few weeks. Corbin loves that Ivey speaks her mind, and Ivey loves how compassionate Corbin is about his son and animals. Together they decide to try out a relationship, but will an unexpected guest uproot their developing feelings?
In a secondary storyline, Hope, who works with Ivey and is like a sister, has run away from everything she once knew to start a new life. Very cautious in new relationships, she leans on Ivey to help her navigate her feelings and start to trust people again. When Corbin’s brother Lang shows up unexpectedly at her door, feelings she thought long buried start bubbling to the surface.
Lang decides to drop everything and surprise his brother with a visit. Knowing Corbin just found his son, he worried his brother might be too concerned at making it all perfect. Bringing his brand of relaxed humor and fun to the table might be just what the house needs. He did not count on meeting Hope though, she intrigues him beyond any scope of reality. Finding out her troubling past makes him more determined to get her to accept him, but will she be able to let go of the past scars and doubts?
As usual, Ms. Foster tells a story so beautifully that the reader is swept directly into the pages like they are right beside the characters. A story of fresh starts, new beginnings, old friendship, blooming romance and trusting yourself most of all. Being an animal lover myself, seeing how the author details each animal interaction with real emotions and reactions had me reacting with the characters. Another keeper for the bookshelf.

Review: Forever Starts Now

Forever Starts Now Forever Starts Now by Stefanie London
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Forever Starts Now is the latest release by Stefanie London. Now fully disclosure, I am a huge fan of this author and she hasn’t led me astray yet. This book is no exception.
Monroe has lost herself over the past few years. She thought she was in a solid, long term relationship, well that was destroyed by her so-called family. Her father’s health is declining, and she is doing her best to save her job. All in all though, things could be worse. She isn’t sure how but surely they could be. When a doppelganger shows up in her small New England town, her first instinct is to tell him to stay far far away from her diner. But the more she gets to know Ethan, the harder and faster she falls.

Ethan is aware that he has more than a passing similarity to one certain avenger. There is nothing he can do about that but try to blend in. He has made his way to Forever Falls in search of a missing piece of a newly discovered puzzle. This town isn’t making it easy to search for answers though. Until he meets Monroe, who offers her help in getting him answers. Will she offer him more though?

Both Monroe and Ethan are going through the motions in life. Ethan searching for a missing link to finally feel as though he belongs. Monroe searching for her complete passion in life. Together they realize what they think isn’t what is destined to be. Forever is a scary concept to imagine, but when you imagine it together, nothing is too scary.
