The CEO's Valentine by Stella Marie Alden ARC review

The CEO's Valentine: A Billionaire Romance (Players Book 5)The CEO's Valentine: A Billionaire Romance by Stella Marie Alden

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The CEO’s Valentine gets a 3.75/5 from me and it is also the first novel I’ve read by this author Stella Marie Alden.

This novel is a really fast moving read that left me confused at times going back to see what I missed and realizing I didn’t miss anything it was just that fast moving. I have no idea if this was some type of continuation novel where I missed the previous set up but it did feel like I walked into the middle of a developed story at some times.

The novel starts with a man pretending to be someone else and a brash woman who says what she means and means what she says. J. Grayson Patten III is trying to find out where the leak in his fathers company stems from before his father passes away. He comes from Los Angeles to the New York office to do some uncover boss snooping. Only one employee knows its him so he can work unsuspected.

Isabella “Izzy” Harte is a girl who doesn’t mince her words and she is having a really bad day. She has been told time and time again she needed to soften her delivery, calm down and be more business like. She tries but she can’t sit idly by while woman get treated like less than a man. She busts into HR to tell her coworker the newest situation to find Grayson, aka James Statten, at the desk instead.

Grayson can’t let Izzy know who he is if he is going to find out what is happening with the company. He figures she may be the one trying to take the company down since she threatens to involve a lawyer. It is one fast assumption after another between the two of them.

The novel moves so quickly, as previously stated, taking it from meet cute to love in rapid succession. Throw in some random death attempts against Grayson and Izzy plus a random background of Grayson’s dad and their relationship makes me even more confused.

Overall I felt like this was a good story with good bones just maybe needed a little longer storyline to feel more complete. I was left with too many questions throughout the book to really say I enjoyed it and would go back to read it again. I didn’t mind the writing style of this author so I would probably give another book of hers a try. The book did have some typos and at one point Grayson’s name changed from J. Grayson to Grayson J but that could’ve been just user input error. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of the novel all opinions are my own.
