Mister Cowboy by Rebecca JenshakMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Mister Cowboy by Rebecca Jenshak is a wonderful first read for me by this author. I am now faced with the task of looking up her other novels and reading more and more.
January Lyle is having a craptastic birthday. She is trying to go out with her best friend Michael to celebrate but he is working late at his bar taking care of a big work party that scheduled for the same night. Sitting and stewing she strikes up a conversation with a handsome stranger and promptly insults him not knowing his true identity.
Brecken Blackstone is the head of Blackstone Software, he is hosting an office party to raise moral before hitting his employees with tons of overtime. He strikes up a conversation with a beautiful woman sitting at the bar and is intrigued.
January is smitten with the handsome stranger but heads home only to be almost hit by a car crossing the street (while looking at her phone). Surprise it is her handsome stranger behind the wheel. Is this something beyond her control?
Brecken is hiding from his past, a past he walked away from years ago and hasn’t looked back. He needs to figure out a way to get it out of his head, forever, and January is the way to make that happen. He hires her to clean out and organize his family home getting it ready for sale. He finds himself being drawn to January more and more everyday and can’t quite figure out what exactly it all means.
January is falling fast for this suit wearing, sweet talking, extravagant gift giving hottie.
She knows better than to get involved with her boss but he just won’t take no for an answer. Could Brecken be the man of her dreams?
There is the standard conflict, a woman who doesn’t let go easily, misunderstood parents and siblings and loyal BFFs.
I really enjoyed this novel and am anxious to read more by the author. She wove a story so well involving multiple people in the storyline without making it feel overwhelming or keeping up with too many characters. I laughed out loud at many points, especially when Mr Cowboy makes an appearance with some colorful language. I received this advance copy from the author via a raffle and I couldn’t be more excited now having read it.
