Heated is the first novel I’ve read by Krista Carleson. It is a quick read but I didn’t feel like much was left out or missing from the novel. It had really good potential to be an even longer read but flowed nicely. The writing style is a little closer to what I am used to but after reading a few books by this author so far I’ve found she writes solely in FPOV. It flows nicely but I find myself missing the thoughts held within each individual characters. Those deep thoughts we always get in our romcoms haha.
Claire Matthews loves being a therapist. She is living her dream of owning her own business with her 2 best friends, leasing her office space in a great old building and helping clients with their anger issues. That is until Jared Holmes walks into her office.
Jared Holmes needs anger management badly, or so he’s been told. He is a real estate developer that has been extra snappy lately with mostly everyone he has come into contact with. He has to find a way to channel his energy and Claire looks like she could help.
They met on a blind date, which Claire was supposed to be meeting someone else, and slowly get to know one another. Can she see past his anger issues and get to know the real Jared.
Being one side to the Female POV we don’t really get to dive too deeply into why Jared is how he is. I really missed that introspective that is usually found in the novels I read. For that reason I feel like I really didn’t to know him as well as I could have. I reviewed this advance copy without expectations; all thoughts expressed are my own. Overall a good read and I have already read some other books by this author.
