Torn by Krista Carleson ARC review

Torn: A Contemporary Sports Romance (Pathways Book 3)Torn: A Contemporary Sports Romance by Krista Carleson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Torn is the 3rd book in the Pathways series. This one follows Alison and Liam. Alison is a sports therapist at the Pathways office, she works alongside her friends Claire and Marissa. She is out for a run one day when she literally runs into Liam. They stop, talk, flirt and exchange numbers. They do some flirty texting and unexpectedly run into each other at Claire and Jared’s engagement party. It seems Jared and Liam are old friends and unknowing to each other invite both their BFF’s to the party.

Alison and Liam enter into this “relationship” knowing it had no future. Alison wasn’t looking to meet someone and neither was Liam. He was heading back to England to play professional soccer and just in the states for a quick visit. Liam explains how he likes the company of women but also likes being alone.

Against their own better judgments they start spending more and more time together. Once day Liam invites Alison to a pick up soccer game and injures his knee. He suddenly finds himself with a job for the year as his recovery will take time. About the same time his life is over as he knows it for the foreseeable future, Alison realizes she fell in love with Liam.

Can two people who are fighting so hard to not be in a relationship find common ground to build a relationship together? I enjoyed this book as much as the others in the series. All 3 are written solely in a female perspective, as I mentioned on my review for Heated (book 2 in the series) so I missed having the male introspective verses. Overall the author writes a good story, it flows and doesn’t lag, for me, at any point. I loved the epilogue and felt like it tied everything up in a nice little bow. I received a copy from the author without expectations for review, all opinions expressed are my own.

Twisted by Stella Andrews ARC review

Twisted: A Billionaire RomanceTwisted: A Billionaire Romance by Stella Andrews

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stella Andrews’ Twisted is a continuation of the billionaires series. In this novel we follow Katherine “Kitty” Rogers from her home at the MC Reapers compound to gather the intel needed to bring down the Washington elite that have been torturing women and keeping them against their will. Ryder King asks her to give up her home in order to gather what they need to bring that world tumbling down.

Sam Carrington owes a debt and Ryder is ready to collect. He must protect and guide Kitty as she does whatever is necessary to bring Washington to its knees. When she walks into his office he quickly realizes this is not what he bargained for.

Katherine is ready to shed her “whore on call” label and find her own way in the world again. She has lost the love of her life, Ryder to Ashton, and she knows she can’t stay in that world any longer. When Ryder asks her to leave with Ashton’s brother for Washington to help the Reapers gain control of the situation she does so without hesitation. She knows Ryder would never put her in harms way and has trained her for this task. What she doesn’t count on is Sam Carrington.

Sam and Katherine work together to gather all the information needed to make these powerful men pay for their crimes. They do it for Amelia, they do it for Ashton, they do it for the countless, faceless, nameless women that have been victimized by these monsters. They will make them pay, one by one.

I enjoyed the journey Katherine takes from Kitty the Reaper to Katherine the loved. She finally finds happiness and truly understands how it feels to be loved for who she is not what she is. Sam takes her heart and promises to love and guide her for the rest of their lives, finally understanding the soul mate phrase.

I felt like most issues in the series are resolved with the epilogue and I’m not left with many questions (which is a very good thing). I received a copy from the author without expectations for review, all opinions expressed are my own.

Just Roll With It by Tawdra Kandle ARC review

Just Roll With It (A Perfect Dish Book 4)Just Roll With It by Tawdra Kandle

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just Roll With It is the first novel I’ve read by Tawdra Kandle. This novel itself is the 4th in a series but it absolutely reads as a standalone also. I must admit I am a new fan of Tawdra Kandle after this great first read.

Amanda and Vincent have very busy lives, neither looking for nor having time for a relationship. Amanda is busy trying to make her way through law school and work but still missing male companionship. After seeing each other again, after about a decade, at an engagement party for her friend and his sister Amanda decides to take a chance and offer a one night stand proposition.

Vincent is extremely busy and a very well known pastry chef. He isn’t lacking in the opposite sex companionship but that is all he is looking for right now. Until he lays eyes on Amanda and starts to rethink those ideals.

While neither Amanda or Vincent are looking for or even necessarily ready for a committed relationship I love how they are both (mostly) honest and upfront with their feelings. Saying not only are they not ready but that even if they give it a try it will probably be difficult. With them both being extremely busy and given they live about 1 ½ hours away from each other, the hardship is a given. But they prove to each other, after some angst, that they are committed and want to give it a go.

I really, really enjoyed this book, rarely does the first book I read by a new author have me dying to turn the pages as this one did. I enjoyed the honesty they showed to each other (most of the time) and the family dynamic. The extended family/friend interactions had me laughing out loud most moments as well. I received a copy from Booksprout without expectations for review; all opinions expressed are my own. I now have the daunting task of going through the authors backlist to get my next read.

From Best Friends to Daddy by Jules Bennett ARC review

From Best Friend to Daddy (Return to Stonerock)From Best Friend to Daddy by Jules Bennett

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From Best Friends to Daddy by Jules Bennett was a great friends to lovers story. Return to Stonerock and follow Kate and Gray’s story. 4.5/5 stars from this Stonerock fan!!

Kate McCoy and Gray Gallagher have been best friends forever. We met Gray in The Cowboys Second Chance Family. Gray has been fighting his feelings for Kate for a long time but after a one night only offer from Kate he knows this is his time to show her how great they could be together.

Kate loves Gray, she doesn’t know what she’d do without her best friend in her life. He has been there for her every step of the way, putting up with her insane need for planning and organization and after the failure of her relationship. Suddenly she starts to see him in a different light. Making that offer of one night to him was a huge mistake, now she can’t stop wanting him.

Kate and Gray have a great chemistry both as best friends and lovers. He knows her better than anyone else does. He drives her crazy with how well he knows her but she also knows she loves how real she can be around him. One night turns into another night and who knows if they can stop wanting to be with each other. After a surprising “failed” test will they remain best friends or be pulled apart forever.

Another great novel from Jules Bennett, not that I am surprised one tiny bit. I always look forward to how she weaves the storylines together, making us feel like we’ve known these characters forever instead of just meeting them. I received a copy without expectations, all opinions expressed are my own. Run, don’t walk to get your copy of From Best Friends to Daddy today, you won’t regret it.
