Just Roll With It by Tawdra KandleMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Just Roll With It is the first novel I’ve read by Tawdra Kandle. This novel itself is the 4th in a series but it absolutely reads as a standalone also. I must admit I am a new fan of Tawdra Kandle after this great first read.
Amanda and Vincent have very busy lives, neither looking for nor having time for a relationship. Amanda is busy trying to make her way through law school and work but still missing male companionship. After seeing each other again, after about a decade, at an engagement party for her friend and his sister Amanda decides to take a chance and offer a one night stand proposition.
Vincent is extremely busy and a very well known pastry chef. He isn’t lacking in the opposite sex companionship but that is all he is looking for right now. Until he lays eyes on Amanda and starts to rethink those ideals.
While neither Amanda or Vincent are looking for or even necessarily ready for a committed relationship I love how they are both (mostly) honest and upfront with their feelings. Saying not only are they not ready but that even if they give it a try it will probably be difficult. With them both being extremely busy and given they live about 1 ½ hours away from each other, the hardship is a given. But they prove to each other, after some angst, that they are committed and want to give it a go.
I really, really enjoyed this book, rarely does the first book I read by a new author have me dying to turn the pages as this one did. I enjoyed the honesty they showed to each other (most of the time) and the family dynamic. The extended family/friend interactions had me laughing out loud most moments as well. I received a copy from Booksprout without expectations for review; all opinions expressed are my own. I now have the daunting task of going through the authors backlist to get my next read.
