The Last One by Tawdra KandleMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Meghan is Jude (from The Posse)’s daughter, she goes to school in Savannah and one night her friend Laura tells her about a town close by that has a place to dance. Meghan and Laura set out to party with Laura as DD, Meghan can let it all go. Enter Sam. He finds them pulled on the side of the road with a broken belt. He sees Meghan in the passenger seat passed out but helps Laura get the car to the local garage for repairs. He arranges for a shop car to get them back to Savannah and out of his life. When he lifts Meghan to move her to the new car she wakes briefly enough to whisper “It’s you.”
What the hell that means Sam doesn’t want to know. He is just glad he won’t have to lay eyes on this temptress again anytime soon. But we all know how fate loves to screw with us. Meghan ends up teaching art to the community for the summer and needing a place to live while in Burton, his sister offers a room on their farm. All bets are off that Sam can actually survive the summer with her under the same roof.
A big emphasis was placed on their age difference (about 7 years) but for me it was null. I go to know Meghan in The Posse and she never came across as young to me (except for one temper tantrum maybe haha). Sam is just what she needed and she was just was Sam needed. Initially agreeing on a no strings attached summer, they quickly realize they both are in it way more than being non committal. They mesh together well and once Sam, as a true guy, got his head out of his ahem, they realize how great team they can actually be.
One of my go to authors this series starts off strong. I recently purchased the box set 1-4 so I will make quick work of those as well. Very solid 4 star read for this new series set in Burton GA.
